Acne Scars and Spots

Acne, once cured, leaves a lasting mark on many who suffer from acne scars and spots. Until now, the only solution was to try to cover acne scars and spots with heavy makeup, which never really covers the scars.

Recently, products such as Proactive treatment have gotten a publicity blitz from famous, beautiful, and admired persons constantly in the public eye. Many people have reported dramatic results from such products.

What you need to know about acne is it is partly genetic, and is caused when pores become blocked with makeup, sebum (natural skin oil) and/or a hair follicle becomes clogged.

There are home remedies and natural cures available to reduce the visible scarring left by acne.

Home Remedies for Acne Scars and Spots:

Magnesium:

Magnesium is one of the body’s most essential minerals, and almost no one gets enough in daily diets.

Taking magnesium supplements can help, also buying milk of magnesium and applying it to clean skin with a cotton ball, allowing it to remain on your face for up to 30 minutes before rinsing with tepid water and patting dry. This will reduce inflammation, soothes puffiness, and calms distressed skin.

Zinc Supplements:

Acne sufferers tend to have lower than normal zinc levels in their skin, so adding a zinc supplement to the diet is often beneficial to those pron to acne.

Aloe Gel:

Another natural remedy is combining 50 grams of aloe gel, 10 drops of geranium oil, 10 drops of lavender oil, and six drops of lemongrass or tea tree oil. Mix all ingredients well, and apply to affected area one or two times daily.

Oils:

A natural remedy for minimizing acne scars is a combination of eight drops of frankincense oil, five drops of lavender oil, and 25 ml of rose hip oil. Mix well, and gently massage affected areas twice daily.

Beta Hydroxy Serums:

Beta hydroxy serums are salicylic acids that come in 3%, 5%, and 8% solutions. They tend to naturally slough off the outer layers of skin, to reveal the healthier skin underneath.

If you have not used it before, begin with the 3% serum, and work up, if you need to.

Weekly Chemical Peels or Microdermabrasion:

Nothing can refine skin more than chemical peels. Chemical peels include glycolic acid, lactic acid, TCA peels, and enzyme peels.

These will remove the upper layers, forcing new, healthy skin to grow.  Microdermabrasion crème is a lighter version than chemical peels.

Mineral Make Up:

Mineral make up is healthy, light, and extremely good at covering scars during the treatment and healing processes.
