Dry Scalp

One of the misconceptions about dry scalp is that increased shampooing, thus making the scalp wet will improve the condition, but in the biggest majority of cases, shampooing makes the problem worse because harsh shampoos and conditioners, and even water itself, take moisture out of the hair and scalp.

When the hair strand leaving the scalp does not receive lubrication from the sebaceous gland (oil gland), it causes dry scalp.

The sebaceous gland gives hair its shine and luster, but when it isn’t doing its job, hair is denied the essential oil it needs, and thus, dry scalp results.

Dry scalp tends to be a bigger problem in the winter or for people who work in offices that use heavy air conditioners in the summer.

Dry scalp is also a problem for some people when they fly. In addition to flakes, dry scalp can also cause split ends.
