Pokeweed extract is derived from the pokeweed plant which is a native to North America. It is considered a weed throughout much of the world, but it has medicinal values that have long been used by ancient cultures.

The plant branches out and has a purple colored stem that bears fruit. The fruit or berries are a purple color that turn to black. This plant commonly grows in fields and well drained soils in natural settings.
