Acne Scar

Almost as bad as acne itself are the scars that may be left behind whether you pick at them or not.

There’s no doubt that picking at pimples can make it worse, so try not to pick. This is particularly true if you have real acne problems.

Scars left behind from acne can often make a person feel self-conscious with their appearance.

There are a number of solutions advertised that promise to remove acne scars forever, but it can be intimidating when you’re not sure what these “solutions” are made up of or how many you’re willing to try.

You can certainly seek medical attention from a dermatologist where they can offer solutions to help remove acne scars or at the very least they can provide medications to help minimize the blemishes.

There are also some revolutionary new practices such as microdermabrasion where the acne scars and other blemishes are removed and a new fresh layer of skin grows in its place.

Natural Cures for Acne Scar

Below are some natural cures for you to consider that are relatively easy and can be quite effective for acne scars.

Citric Acid for Light Scarring

When it comes to a natural cure for light acne scars, look no further than your very own kitchen.

One solution is to squeeze one teaspoon of fresh lemon or a lime juice then soak a cotton ball in the juice and hold it on the scar.

Let this soak in and dry then rinse the area with water.

This method will not remove the scar but can help fade the appearance of the scar. Be sure to avoid going out in the sun with this on your skin and if you notice any skin irritation, stop using this method.

Tomatoes and Acne Scars

Tomatoes may also help diminish the look of acne scars. Slice up a tomato and place it over the affected area.

You can also mash it up. Either way, while you are relaxing is the best time for this method. Place the tomato on your face - you can use a piece of gauze or a large band aid to keep it in place.

Tomato contain vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin C, lycopene and beta carotene all very powerful qualities.

Glycolic Acid

Glycolic acid easily penetrates the skin, and is used in lower concentrations in many skin care products. It is used in higher concentrations as a chemical peel which can be done by a professional.

Glycolic acid improves the skin's appearance by reducing wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, acne scars and the overall texture of the skin.

Glycolic acid dissolves dead skin, and allows new skin to come to the surface. In higher concentrations, it removes both old and new skin on the surface.

The skins response of swelling and redness help to deposit collagen as the body attempts to repair itself, resulting in reduction of fine lines, wrinkles, scars and pitting.

Microdermabrasion for Acne Scars

Microdermabrasion can work on some but not all acne scars. If this is something you are considering, make an appointment with your dermatologist for more information and possibly other solutions.

Any treatment to lessen the look of acne scars, will not remove the scar but they can help lessen the appearance. There are no quick fixes, anything you try regardless of a home remedy or over the counter prescriptions will take time, possibly months to see any results.
