Kidney Infections

There are two main kidney disorders which are caused due to infections:

  • Glomerulonephritis
  • Pyelonephritis

Fortunately, both these kidney infections are very slow to progress. A person afflicted with either of these can live a normal life with proper kidney functioning for as long as 20 to 25 years.

It is very difficult to detect Glomerulonephritis at its initial stages as it has almost no symptoms.

Pyelonephritis on the other is accompanied with fever, back ache, nausea and chills.

There can be various factors which could lead to a kidney infection. It can be caused due to an allergic reaction to an infection in some other part of the body.

The common causes can be pneumonia, measles, hepatitis and malaria. Bacterial infection is also very common; the bacteria involved are generally the ones which are found readily in human intestines.

Leaving these infections untreated can lead to severe complications.

They result in sclerosis, scarring and eventually a complete renal and kidney failure.
