Cramps

Every women has likely experienced some form of cramps at one point or another. Depending on the severity of a woman’s monthly cycle or how intense her period may be, cramps can be an expected part of everyday life.

For women, cramps can be downright debilitating. Cramps can sometimes interfere with a woman’s ability to focus and perform daily tasks. Sometimes sever cramps can be an indicator of something far more serious that can cause more problems such as fertility issues later on.

Doctors are not sure why cramps are more painful during menstruation for some and not others. Some factors may be: a heavy blood flow, after the birth of your first child, endometriosis or just starting your period for the first time.

Natural Cures for Cramps

Just as every woman varies in her monthly cycle, so to do the severity or appearance of cramps. Some women may go through life without ever experiencing cramps. Oftentimes women will find that their cycles change over time or after a life changing event such as giving birth.

Whatever the root cause of the cramps, it can be quite helpful to be informed and educated on some excellent home remedies that can help provide some relief for cramps.

Mineral Relief

There are certain minerals that are associated with pain relief and can be of great help. Ensuring that an individual is getting proper levels of minerals, particularly at this often painful time of the month, can be a great help and work quite well.

Calcium, magnesium, and potassium can work well as a home remedy for cramps of any kind. This isn’t just limited to menstrual cramps as proper levels of these minerals can be of great help with even leg cramps.

Warmth

Warmth of any kind can work for cramps. Putting a warm heating pad on the sight of the cramps or even something as simple as drinking warm/hot fluids like water or tea can be very helpful. The warmth helps to relax the cramp and bring some much needed pain relief. A warm bath can also help relieve pain.

Exercise

Though it may not sound like the best option at the time, but if an individual is suffering from cramps, try exercise. This helps bring almost immediate relief from the pain, particularly if the exercise incorporates some sort of stretching.
