Wheat is considered to be one of the cereal grasses. Wheat grasses grow similarly to the lawn grass found in your yard. The planted wheat seeds send up small green shoots which are harvested when they are young.

It is grown by soaking the seeds in clean water until they sprout and grow shoots that are approximately two inches long. This process normally takes about ten days indoors and several months outdoors.

There is even a kit to grow your own wheat grass at home and a juicer made specifically for wheat grass.

What is wheat grass extract? The dried leaves of the wheat grass plant can be freeze dried and powdered or dehydrated at low temperatures to make a powder.

Typically the powder is added to teas, smoothies, or cereals for consumption.
