Prunella extract is derived from the creeping prunella plant which is a perennial. The plant is native to Europe and Asia, but it also grows in North America.

It is commonly found in pastures and along roadsides, though it may easily go unnoticed. It is one of seven species of plants that is commonly known as a "self healer".

Although the plant is small, it can easily establish itself in an area and overtake plants around it.
