Stretch Mark

Stretch marks are imperfections in the skin that can affect both women and men.

Although most common in women during the later months of pregnancy, they can also appear as people gain weight or muscle mass.

Stretch marks are reddish, pink or purplish-blue in color and tend to appear in a few common places, including the stomach, upper arms, buttocks, thighs and breasts.

They appear when the skin is literally stretched and cortisone levels rise. Cortisone can impact the skin’s elasticity and enable the marks to appear.

While stretch marks are most commonly caused by a gain in body mass, they can also be associated with serious conditions, including Cushing’s syndrome.

If the cause is unknown, it is best to seek out medical advice. Fortunately, in most cases, stretch marks are harmless and will generally fade over time.

Still, they are unsightly and many people would prefer to lighten or learn how to remove stretch marks permanently.

Natural Cures For Stretch Marks:

People who wish to get rid of stretch marks will find there are many home remedies and natural cures that can make a difference.

The options range from natural cures, like herbal creations, to over-the-counter products that can reduce and eliminate visible signs of stretching.

Over-The-Counter Products:

Lotions containing such ingredients as Vitamin E and cocoa butter can serve as home remedies for a stretch mark.

By moisturizing the skin, these products can assist with elasticity.

There are also home remedy options that are specifically designed to reduce the appearance of stretch marks.

Olive Oil:

Olive oil is a natural cure that can help prevent the appearance of the stretch mark.

It can also assist in hydrating the skin to promote lightening of the scar tissue.

Vitamin Consumption:

This home remedy involves taking vitamins that are known to promote healthy skin growth.

To make the most of this natural cure and preventative, make sure to get enough Vitamin E and Vitamin C in the daily routine.

Vitamin E capsules may also be broken open and applied directly to an area where stretching is taking place.

Weight Control:

When stretch marks begin to appear due to weight gain, putting exercise into the daily routine and limiting food intake to a healthy amount can serve well as a home remedy for stretching.

In the case of pregnancy, however, weight loss and control is not always advised.

Lavender Oil:

This home remedy calls for applying lavender oil directly to areas of the skin impacted by stretching.

Doing this multiple times a day can promote lightening of marks.
