Ringworm

Contrary to its name, ringworm is not an infection that has anything to do with worms.

It is actually a highly contagious fungal infection that can appear on the scalp, skin, or nails.

There are specialized anti-fungal creams that can be bought in drugstores and pharmacies, however there are also many natural cure and home remedies that are just as effective and 100% natural.

What Are the Symptoms of Ringworm:

Ringworm is a fungal infection that appears as a red rash. The defining characteristics of a ringworm infection are:

  • Reddened, scaly patches
  • Irregular shape
  • Raised edges around the ring
  • Itchy
  • If on the scalp, hair loss can result

Causes of Ringworm:

Ringworm is caused by a fungal infection. It can be passed on by people, pets, household objects and the soil.

Natural Cures for Ringworm:

The following natural cures have been used to treat ringworm with successful results.

Raw Papaya:

A popular home remedy for ringworm, papaya slices place on top of the infection will eliminate it within 3-4 weeks.

Bleach:

A home remedy not for the faint of heart!

Soak the end of a cotton bud in bleach and rub gently on the ringworm infection.

This will sting so be forewarned!

Turmeric:

This Indian spice has renowned anti-fungal properties.

Apply turmeric juice to the affected area 3-4 times a day and results should be noticed within 2 weeks.

Tea tree oil:

Tea tree oil is a natural cure for many things due to its anti-fungal, antiviral and antibacterial properties.

It can be applied to the ringworm-affected area directly; however this may irritate the skin.

It can also be mixed with jojoba oil for a gentler yet effective alternative.

Butea:

This herb is commonly used to treat ringworm.

Grind the seeds and make a paste to be applied to the skin.

Do this daily for 3 weeks.

Mustard Seed:

One of the most common home remedies for ringworm is mustard seed, because it really works!

Create a paste from the seeds and apply to the skin.

Use this daily until the ringworm has disappeared.

Avoid White Foods:

Ringworm seems to thrive on processed and refined foods.

If you are experiencing a bout if ringworm, avoid white sugar and white flour to help speed up recovery.
