Nervousness

Nervousness is a feeling of apprehension, anxiety and dread that we often face in stressful situations.

It is a physical and mental condition that can affect us without notice, in which case it is helpful to know some natural cures that can help to alleviate the symptoms associated with it.

If you feel that nervousness is a problem in your life and may be part of a bigger problem, consult your doctor as soon as possible to discuss possible connections to other illnesses.

Common Causes of Nervousness:

In life, we are often faced with new or stressful situations in which case nervousness is a healthy reaction. There are some cases however, where nervousness can be caused by specific problems, including:

  • Excessive reliance on caffeine or stimulants
  • Hormonal imbalances
  • Withdrawal from drugs or alcohol
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Panic attacks
  • Stress
  • Medical conditions such as strokes and seizures

Symptoms of Nervousness:

If you are experiencing these symptoms, then using a natural cure to treat nervousness may be beneficial.

  • Upset stomach
  • Pounding heart

Natural Cures for Nervousness:

There are a multitude of home remedies that will cure nervousness. Depending on how severe your nervousness is, some home remedies will work better than others.

Peel an orange and inhale the natural citrus aroma that is released. This natural cure works by creating mental focus and calming nerves.

Another home remedy that involves citrus fruit is to smell Bergamot essential oil. This citrus fruit is also effective in calming nerves and can be diffused in an oil burner or inhaled from a blotted cloth.

Place 1 drop of primrose oil on the tongue for instant relief of nervousness.

Another home remedy is to tense up all of the muscles in your body as tight as you can and hold it for 30 seconds, then relax. Do this three times to get your mind off being nervous.

Tai chi or yoga are relaxing, centering forms of exercise that work to get rid of nervousness on a long term basis.

Boil a kettle of water and add dried rosemary leaves to it. Let it steep for 15 minutes and then drink a cup of this on a daily basis to cure nervousness.

Sit upright in a chair and raise your knees slightly up and hold for a count of ten, then lower. This helps to loosen up cramped muscles when you commonly feel “butterflies” in your stomach. Repeat this exercise 3-5 times or until you feel like the nervous feeling has subsided.
