HepatitisHepatitis is a disease that involves injury to the liver, usually recognized by the presence of inflamed tissue in the cells of the liver. There are various forms of hepatitis, depending on the cause, and also differing widely in severity. In most cases of hepatitis, it is caused by a group of viruses known as the hepatitis viruses. There are, of course, other causes as well. Consumption of too much alcohol over long periods of time results in a condition known as alcoholic hepatitis, where the liver is damaged by the constant consumption of alcohol. Hepatitis can also be caused by other forms of infection, and by autoimmune disorders that target the liver. There are two main forms of hepatitis – acute and chronic. Acute hepatitis refers to hepatitis that lasts less than six months before healing on its own. Chronic hepatitis refers to any hepatitis that lasts longer than six months. Symptoms differ between the two forms of hepatitis. In acute hepatitis, patients may be asymptomatic, meaning that they present no symptoms, or they may present full liver failure, where they require a liver transplant in order to survive. In chronic hepatitis, most patients remain only mildly symptomatic or asymptomatic until the disease has progressed very far. At this point, jaundice may be a symptom, indicating extensive damage to the liver. Other symptoms include low-grade fever and water retention. Natural Cures for Hepatitis:Get rid of hepatitis using these home remedies to relieve symptoms and address the root causes of hepatitis. Licorice Root:Licorice root can be processed into glycyrrhetinic acid, which has very powerful anti-viral and anti-inflammatory properties, thus providing relief from the symptoms of hepatitis and giving the liver a chance to heal and recover. Milk Thistle:Milk thistle is a common and popular home remedy for many forms of liver disease including hepatitis. It has been shown to play a key role in cell regeneration in the liver, thus leading to healing and strengthening of the liver as well. Milk thistle is available as a supplement in the form of pills from local drugstores and pharmacies. St. John's Wort:Take one teaspoon of St John’s Wort tincture dissolved in water three times a day, or three tablets of St John’s Wort extract each day. St. John’s Wort is a well-known anti-viral compound that helps to prevent infection by hepatitis viruses. St John’s Wort is available as an over-the-counter supplement. |
