HeadacheA headache is any form of pain in any region of the head or upper portion of the neck. Headaches are among the most common medical complaints for pain, and there a myriad of causes of headaches, ranging from structural problems to injuries. The medical community generally accepts three main classifications of headaches. These are the primary, secondary, and other headaches. Primary headaches include migraine, tension-type headaches, and cluster headaches. Tension-type headaches are the most common type of headache, and they are usually the reason some form of stress or hunger. Migraines are the second-most common type of headache and quite often severe, and debilitating pain in the head region. Cluster headaches are headaches that occur in the same frequency as their name, and are generally extremely severe. Secondary headaches refer to headaches that are some form of structural problem or deformity, usually in the head or neck area. This may include head trauma, bleeding in the brain, and also withdrawal from certain substances. Headaches classified under other headaches include cranial neuralgia, which refers to headaches caused by the inflammation and swelling of nerves in the upper neck and head regions. Other headaches that have causes not included in the primary and secondary categories fall within this one. Natural Cures for Headache:Rest:Often, headaches are caused by factors that the body is able to deal with on its own. The pain is merely temporary as the body goes about healing itself. One of the best ways to get rid of headaches is to rest, and they way in which you do so is very important. You should lie down in a quiet area, as loud noises can often trigger headaches. Also, ensure that there is not too much light in the room – a dimly-lit room is preferable. Massage:Many patients who suffer from chronic headaches have found that massaging the neck and head area gives them temporary relief from their headaches.
