Hair Removal

Hair removal describes any method that gets rid of unwanted or excess body hair. Hair removal is usually dictated by cultural and societal values.

Excess hair, especially in women, continues to be a taboo subject. The female skin must be clean, smooth and hairless. Hair growth in an area that should be free from any body hair, such as in the armpits or face, is unacceptable and unattractive.

Men have the option to grow facial hair, although most men choose to shave daily to achieve a clean-shaven look.

Hair removal is achieved either through depilation or epilation.

Depilation is the removal of the hair above the skin’s surface. The hair bulb is not removed in this method. Thus, the effects of this method may only last for several hours to several days. Shaving, use of depilatory creams and lotions and rubbing the unwanted hair against a rough surface are examples of its methods.

Epilation is the removal of the entire hair, including the part beneath the surface of the skin. Thus, the effects are usually longer-lasting. Epilation is achieved through waxing, electrolysis, plucking, laser hair removal, sugaring and threading.

Natural Cures for Hair Removal:

There is no known home remedy that can get rid of body hair permanently.

Temporary hair removal can be achieved through the use of inexpensive ingredients that are commonly found in the kitchen.

Honey Lemon Facial Mask:

Mix honey with fresh lemon juice. Gently apply the honey lemon mixture all over the face in the direction of the hair growth.

Let it stand for 15 minutes or until dry, and thoroughly rinse off the mixture with cool water.

Apply this facial mask twice a week.

Chickpeas, Turmeric Powder and Milk Paste:

Soak chickpeas in water for one hour, and grind them to a paste.

Mix one teaspoon of milk cream with ground chickpeas, and add a pinch of turmeric powder.

Apply a thick layer of this paste on your face and neck area. Let it stand for 20 minutes or until dry.

Gently scrub off the paste with lukewarm water to remove fine hairs.

Egg, Sugar and Corn Flour:

Mix an egg white with one tablespoon each of sugar and corn flour. Mix to a thick paste consistency.

Apply the paste all over your face and neck area.

Peel off the paste once it dries.

This combination is one of the most effective home remedies for hair removal.

Apply this mixture four times a week.
