Endometriosis

Endometriosis is a condition in women where the endometrial cells or uterine lining grows abnormally outside the uterus, or in the fallopian tubes, ovaries or intestines.

Less common, it may grow in the cervix, vagina or bladder. It is rarely caused by surgeries. This abnormal growth is benign and not cancerous.

Endometriosis in women is the number one cause of pelvic pain and reasons for hysterectomy and laparoscopic surgery. Endometriosis also causes infertility and heavy painful menstruation.

Severe cases may require surgery; however, most are manageable by home remedies and natural cures. Hormone replacements and pain medications may also help improve the condition.

The cause of endometrioses is unknown. Most endometriosis is asymptomatic, but those who have symptoms feel pain in the pelvis which may radiate to the lower back. Pain is usually felt during menstruation and decreases in intensity after menstruation.

Other women experience pain during intercourse and urination. Aside from pain, endometriosis may also manifest as blood in urine, diarrhea, irregular or heavy menstruation and/or constipation.

Natural Cures for Endometriosis:

Most home remedies for endometriosis are directed towards managing the pain associated with endometriosis.

Ice and Warm Compresses:

Aside from pain medications, try placing an ice pack or warm compress on your abdominal area to get rid of the pain.

Ice compresses can decrease the sensitivity of your pain fibers.

Warm compresses can increase blood flow and encourage smooth muscle relaxation.

Exercise:

Incorporating exercise in your lifestyle can reduce menstrual flow because exercise decreases production of estrogen.

With reduced menstruation, there will also be less irritations and inflammations due to endometriosis.

Another easy to remember home remedy is to not use tampons during menstruation to prevent reflux that may aggravate the condition.

An exercise regimen is also a good natural cure of pains. Endorphins, which increase your pain threshold, are released during exercise.

Diet Modifications:

A good home remedy is to avoid foods that are irritating to the stomach and hard to digest such as alcohol, animal fats, caffeine, dairy products, red meats, refined and processed foods and junk foods can prevent added pain.

Take iron supplements during heavy periods to prevent anemia.

Natural Herbs:

Aside from common sense home remedies, there are many effective natural cures to manage the symptoms caused by endometriosis.

A good natural cure, the herb castleberry, normalizes the hormones estrogen and progesterone level in the body.

There are also herbs that can strengthen the uterus such as blue cohosh, life root, false unicorn root, motherwort, parsley, squaw vine, square wood and yarrow.

For abnormal bleeding's the natural cure of herbs, witch hazel bark or shepherd’s purse can decrease their occurrences and the body will also benefit from their astringent property to prevent further infections due to bleeding.
