Baptisia Tinctoria / Bapt

Formal Name: Baptisia Tinctoria

Also Known As: Baptisia, Wild Indigo, Indigo Weed, Horsefly Weed, Rattleweed

You have probably seen and even admired the color indigo. The color indigo comes from a dye obtained from the baptisia tinctoria plant which for years was the plants main purpose.

It was then found that indigo actually had medicinal purposes and was looked to as an antiseptic cleaner for wounds. It was proven centuries ago to be of great help in homeopathy as the power of this plant continued to grow.

Baptisia is the resulting homeopathic remedy to a wide range of ailments and health conditions. It is made by taking the root of the wild indigo plant; including the bark, then pulped and left to steep in alcohol for a period of eight days.

The resulting tincture that comes from this process is then repeatedly diluted and succussed until the homeopathic remedy known as baptisia is what remains.
