The beet plant is generally a herbaceous biennial that is rarely a perennial plant. It has tall leafy stems with heart shaped leaves. These leaves are edible, juicible, and are known as beet greens. The bulb shaped root can be eaten as a vegetable. Sugar beets are used to make sugar.

Because Beet juice is so potent is should be diluted at least 4 times and combined with other juices like carrot, cucumber, celery, or apple. The juice is a dark red color, and is known to purify the blood.

Beetroot Juice with Cucumber and Pineapple:

This drink is very cleansing and should be sipped on an empty stomach.

Ingredients:

  • 1 small beetroot (small and crisp beets are sweeter)
  • 1/2 cucumber
  • 1 cup of pineapple chunks

Directions:

  • Clean beetroot and remove top. Scrub with vegetable brush.
  • Peel or wash the cucumber. Waxed cucumbers should be peeled.
  • Slice the pineapple and remove skin.
  • Cut all fruit and vegetables to fit your juicer.
  • Juice and serve.
