What is Apple Juice? Apple juice is a fruit juice that is made by softening and pressing apple pulp. Commercial juice may be clarified by removing starch and pectin, and then pasteurized and placed in glass, metal or other containers. It can be dehydrated and made into a concentrate. Apple juice can also be sold in an untreated state.

Apple Juice Recipe:

First choose your apples. Fuji apples are naturally sweet, apples high in Vitamin C include Golden Noble, Reinette, Cox's, or Jonathans apples. Now remove the cores. You can also skin them, but the skin provides some of the nutrition. Now crush the apple pieces into a pulp.

You can do this in a food processor, a blender, or with a strong hand held masher and a lot of effort. The mashed pulp is called pomace and you will put the pomace in cheesecloth, and then place on a press with the juices collecting in a tray. Or you can squeeze the juice out of the cloth by hand into a bowl. Now drain the juice through a fine sieve or filter, chill and drink.
