Species Name: Aniba rosaeodora

Also known as:  Brazilian rosewood, bios de rose, rosewood tree

Rosewood essential oil comes from the bark of Aniba rosaeaodora from the Lauraceae family, via steam distillation. 

Native to the Amazon area this rare evergreen tree is considered an endangered species. Due to the desire for the essential oil the tree, including the root system, is taken from the ground and not re-planted.

It has a red colored bark and yellow blossoms. The oil has a slightly sweet, spicy, pleasantly floral scent.

Home Remedies using Rosewood Essential Oil:

In aromatherapy, rosewood essential works well in diffusers, steam therapy, and simmer pots.

Rosewood essential oil works well blended with other essential oils and/or carrier oils to be used as a massage or bath oil for stress relief.

It can work with lavender, jasmine and rose.

It can also be added to cream or lotion bases.
