Species name: petroselinum sativum or apium petroselinum.

Also known as:  Bakdonis or Baqdounis.

Parsley was once used for a multitude of things.It was believed to have the magical quality of being able to neutralize poison. It is able to render most any scent odorless when chewed, even strong garlic odors.

There are two types of parsley grown and used today. There is root parsley, which has a tender, palatable root, and leaf parsley, which has an inedible root, and is grown only for cultivation of its leaves. Parsley leaf is used for garnishing.
